About Us
Just over two decades ago, at 40 and newly divorced, I traded the busy streets of Chicago for the quiet charm of Bellevue, Iowa—alongside my Boston Terriers and a dream of opening a bookstore, despite having no retail experience.
It was a leap into the unknown, leaving behind familiar faces and starting fresh. Nearly 25 years later, that leap has grown into something truly special—built on resilience, community, and gratitude.
Over the years, countless customers have walked through our doors as strangers and left as friends. Open 361 days a year, we welcome you to stop in, browse, connect, and of course, meet The BookWorm Boston Terrier—the heart and soul of our shop.
